Must be a VIP party down there tonight. They had big fireworks, it was before 10.00 pm. I prefer it when they have them not too late like tonight. These were nicer than usual. They must have cost a lot of money.

While some around the world are rioting because of food shortages Monaco keeps burnng money up into smoke.

paca -- i was thinking too "who are these people"? i enjoy a great movie or tv show but it's as if the world of entertainment/celebrity is out of control. anyone can be a "star" and while i like to see new leaps and bounds taken in terms of creativity, the market is has become incredibly saturated. and imo that has taken the excitement and interest away. but then again, i work with these numbskulls in the u.s. and find most of them not impressive in terms of their work or their "me" first attitudes -- it's like for G_d's sake -- YOU'RE A REALITY TV STAR.

No. Not that that's saying anything...

More news about the festival:
The makers of the television serial Gooische Vrouwen have itself withdrawn from the competition of TV-festival of Monte Carlo, which this week takes place. They were nominated in several categories.

The spokesman of the producers of the serial: " Particularly the promotional obligations which got imposed on the Dutch nominees were unacceptable and unfeasable.

Endemol, Talpa and the members concerned of cast and crew have decided they can't and won't be able to comply with the long list of obligations and to take the consequence to be excluded of participation in the tv-competition."

Translation by Babelfish. Original text here for as long as it's up.

Gooise vrouwen is in France: Jardins Secrets - and in Germany: Feine Freundinnen. Not too long ago, they were elated to be nominated - imagine all the standard blah-blah here. Other cast and crew seem to be able to comply with that "long list of requirements" the festival is demanding, so I'm wondering who's being the arrogant and spoilt celeb here. I am however curious to know what the festival could ask that is so demanding and so impossible that they can't comply with it. Considering the topic of the series, a tea party at the palace with Albert is right up their alley...

Creative it's the ultimate Andy Warhol moment. Every one gets to be a star for 15 minutes. I'm still waiting for my turn!! Perhaps Charlene took it since she seems to have had more than her share.

Well, a few more known ones and some recycled from last year. looks like one of them was practising for Oprah by jumping on the couch. Let's see who else they come up with till the finish. There were some cancellations due to strike and , well, one French show got taken off due to lack of audience, so no point paying them for promoting a dead horse. There are public viewings, but it didn't look interesting in any way ... at least not to me, but I find most of TV pretty much the same so I tend to turn TV more off then on. Besides there is sure to be a rerun of a whole season of a series so I can always catch up, if I would want to. But who wants to look at cleavage and hairflicking and the guys waving guns all the time trying to solve another crime of which we know who did it after minute 3. It's almost like these series books, where the connecting story is getting more and more absurd and the case they are dealing with becomes uninteresting. I ceased to read those books some time ago and the same goes for series like CSI or these neverending hospital shows. They had Damages with Glen Close on German TV which was different then the usual, but unfortunetely we get either the original or covered version of a popular US show and that get's so boring that I end up watching more and more documentaries.

I think that one is scking up everyones 15 minutes as she goes a long. She is using a Dyson for it as to not lose any suction as it fills up and she has a spare one running that is 24/7 sucking Alberts money... And she is so busy doing tha now that she doesn't have time to show her face anymore like last year.

Absolutely agree and where everyone is a star, there are no stars. Nowadays anyone walking down the catwalk is a supermodel and only those fulltime armcandy are working occassionally as models. I think it all started when the stars took their hairdressers and tailors to the ball. That might be very democratic, but when the king receives the same honors as the servant, why would you even bother with a king? or both of them? It's like eating caviar everyday. It seizes to be special (btw lobster, caviar and truffles used to be poor peoples food. The lobster was only eaten because the fishermen didn't want them to destroy their nets). Famous chefs get drooling over fresh bread, nice butter and a fresh picked tomato still warm from the sun. Unfortunetely those new people are neither caviar nor the fresh picked tomato. They are fresh opened cans of no name brand tomatosoup.

A few more known faces and sill a lot of unknowns. Apparently yesterday they were received by Proust, let's see whether ther will be another palace party with Charlene...And of course the gala. Will Charlene take her panda out again?
