I think today is the traditional football game.

I don't know, paca... I hate Monaco during "grand prix" because there are a lot of people, too much noise... so, I'm not going to be here during those days.

it is actually tonight I believe and yes so do I. As soon as they start to put up the construction until it is gone I wish I wouldn't live here. It maes the place ugly ad a nightmare to live in. I doubt it would be held here still if it wasn't for the money to be made. Everyone I know hates it (except maybe the schoolkids who have time off). Whoever thinks it is glamorous simply has no idea. It's a nuissance.

Isn't the South of France and now Monaco sick of Elton John yet - period :?: :!: Come one already! Make room for another musical has-been like... Phil Collins, why not, give them each a chance! Collins would have better sense no doubt than stay too long at the party. Now that Elton John married a nice Canadian, you'd think he'd just enjoy wedded bliss  Sigh! It's just not encouraging for younger artists to see the "geriatric" singers just hang on and on and on... I thought rock stars never wanted to get old, or, in the words of The Who: "hope I die before I get old".. yeah right! Stage hoggers.

I wonder if they block streets during Grand Prix so private cars can't come into town. I imagine traffic must be horrible in MC these days. I remember hearding/reading somewhere (year ago) that they would plan additional buses during Grand Prix, wonder if it happened.

Only the roads around the course are closed off. The through roads are open etc. Besides there are people in Monaco who do not attend the GP who would love to get around or at least out of town. Public traffic has to run too, though most busses run on different roads now. It's also a nightmare to take the bus, so better not to go out if you can avoid it or walk, but with everything blocked off you might have to walk a lot of extra. I tend to stay around my side of town during that time and since afternoon activities are cancelled till next week, there will be no need for me to Fontvielle or la Condamine.

The gloves are off! Ecclestone doesn't take well to Mosley's posturing in Monaco, but he denies he wants control.. because maybe he too likes to be dominated

looks like it is going to be a wet race tomorrow. Weather has been bad these last few days (weeks actually ad I don't remember having had this much rain at this time of the year since I moved here. It is much cooler as well. Usually we have these temperatures in March or April, but not end of mai)

The race will probably see a number of crashes ad safetycar. It will be better to watch on TV then actually going there, unless you like to be wet. We already had a bit of rain today and it is predicted worse for tomorrow and Monday. I suspect we will see a race like the one that saw Oliver Panis win and only 5 cars or so cross the finish line....

I forgot to mention that from 16.00h today the trains are on strike till after the race tomorrow. They have tried to find a solution, but the normal extra trains for the GP will not be there so about 70% of the visitors will be concerned as they are travelling from Nice. Getting there will be a little easier though then getting out though as there will only be 6 trains for expected 35000 people.

After taking the bus from the airport to the train station in Nice I took the train from Nice to Monaco. I did not even have to wait very long. So there was some trains running today. The one I was on early this afternoon was rather empty. When I got to Monaco the place was more like a zoo because of the GP qualifyings. I saw the cars from up at Sainte Devote but my eyes were too blurry to see exactly who was doing what. So it looks like it will be two Ferraris and then Hamilton on the starting grid tomorrow. :(

the strike only started today at 16.00h and it would probably mostly concern transportation towards Nice after the trials and races today. I watched part of it on TV and it seems that they are expecting quite a few crashes if it rains which is very likely, though today it wasn't that bad. Only cool for the season, but I guess that is good for the tires.

Here is another article about the fashion show, though it is mostly about Liz http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... -show.html

LOL You just never know!! If I'm going to crack the whip at Albert, I'll need to borrow some leather and spandex but then I'm to old for that look. I think I have to train a cute young brunette with brains to take over since he seems to like that 20 year age gap. Although perhaps Athina Onassis might know of a few replacements since she is a rider and will be at the Olympics. Gee maybe she could set Albert up so he can leave Charlene in China.

In "Marianne" there is an article about GP 2008 and strike, about how difficult it is for "normal" people to live in Monaco.
I'm going to scan and create a link.

Getty has the first pics. The agencies are slow this year, aren't they? It seems to me that they were faster last year.

:D Winning this race is certainly prestigious in and of itself, however, does anyone know what prizes, if any happens to the winners of this race, for all of us newbies!! the pics are amazing in spite of the rain it was so great to see such a h-u-g-e turnout. Until the pics were posted it was hard to visualize the amount of people that attend these events and it really is fab. great trophy :D

I went to the race, had a fabulous panoramic view over where they exit the tunnel, make the turn and go uphill, also with the harbour all the way up to the rock.

I knew I had to be in Monaco today as I knew he would win. My boy Hamilton won! After all that happened to him, what a fabulous race!!!

Time to celebrate now!

Go Hammy!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
