It looks like the Monaco GP ticket prices have gone up substantially from last year's? :(

Maybe they're trying to make it more exclusive or perhaps the cost of running it has skyrocketed due to the price of gas. Maybe the F1 guys should have a chat with the oil companies?

Aside from the standing area on Le Rocher where the cost of tickets is still reasonable (70 Euros) with a good view in the distance if you get there early enough, every GP ticket with a view (sometimes with not so much of a view) are priced between 390 and 450 Euros a seat.

Very frustrating for those of us true F1 nutheads without all that money to spend.

Some tribunes (grand stands) are already sold out. The qualifying session on the Saturday afternoon is not cheap either. I wonder what it will be like next year.

Those with good connections in Monaco, CW and the rest of them will of course get in for free.

That's so the rest of you can pay for them. At least the corporate sponsors had to pay for their privileges (one hopes)

The nicest and most unpretentious people in the world of F1...
I had a great time meeting them last year.

Struggling Super Aguri out of F1

The Super Aguri team have withdrawn from the Formula One World Championship because of a lack of funding.

The Japanese team have wound up their racing activities with immediate effect and will not compete at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

I will miss the Aguris and Takuma Sato...

And the Japanese really love their racing too! I remember being at a Grand Prix in Fuji if I recall back in 87. It might have been Formula Atlantic. I also got to use the Leyton House Racing Team's house as a base in Tokyo. Perhaps things have changed but they weren't strapped for cash then. Mind you they experienced a terrible crash since..

:D Are all the f1 teams corporately sponsored? It would be so sad to see Japan not have a team.

There is Honda and Nakajima. He is not as good as Takuma Sato but we'll see what he will do this weekend in Istanbul and then in Monaco. Japan has some of the most advanced car engine technology. I have been following the tech side of F1 for years.

Now talking about a different aspect of the GP season, it looks like the prostitutes networks are back full blast. Most of them come from Eastern Europe especially from Russia and the Ukraine. They are extremely efficient. They are arrogant and bitchy with tons of ££££$$$$$$ and wearing the best clothes. Nothing that I could ever afford myself. They sure know where the money is. Monaco has little control over them if none at all.

It would be interesting (ecpecially considering Albert) to see if Monaco would ever have a vice squad but then maybe Putin and Albie cut a deal for the best ones.

Putin also got a former athlete/escort..hmmm As the newly professed conspiracy theorist on this forum, I would have to point to a strange coincidence here. Would this fall under free trade I wonder? Although there's nothing free about it

:?: it would be nice for some of us in the surrounding countryside whom don't come to Monte Carlo to know a little more about the Grand Prix. How long does it last? How many countries/corporations are represented and participate in it. Whom started the Grand Prix idea and why? what happens at the outcome of the Grand Prix and what is done with the prizes if any are awarded?

it seems quite a fun sport, however, most people assume everyone knows all about these things. however, they don't so if anyone could provide some answers.

You have to think that the Formula 1 "cars" are in fact prototypes, very special and hugely costly machines that are coming from years of research and improvement. They are now full of electronics and computerized unlike the old cars to measure fuel injection, engine thrust and so many other factors that are coming into play. I am not a mechanic/engineer but I am sure there are web sites that will explain you how they work in more detail. Here is one where you will find a lot of information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One

This is the link to my car page that I posted on my favourite aviation forum. It has a couple of dozens good pictures of the cars that came to Monaco to race in today's Historic Grand Prix. I took the pictures on Friday evening.

http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forum ... n/1897479/

These are the old racing cars types from the early 20's until the 70s and later for the last few Ferraris.

I thought Monaco was a catholic country? What does the Bishop think of this one?
I guess if the Prince says it's OK, then the Bishop has to shut up.

As guest of honour this year will be Elton John's husband David Furnish. [b]

they seem to forget that not Albert is the host of the F1, the automobile club is. So yes Albert can ask in his function to not be seen with him, but it is up to the club to decide whether he is a guest or not and an official statement has been made. Albert only wants to avoid bad publicity (as do others). His decision is surely not a decision of personal conviction that Mosley has done wrong. He just made the mistake to be publicly found out ( I am sure that people around him knew about it or there where rumours about it way before the pics were taken. As long as no one stands to benefit they keep a lid on it. It is the same with politicians. Everyone knows about their affairs more or less certain and when the time is right they are made public. There are people who make it their business to gather this sort of info in order to be able to put pressure on when needed. If you want to avoid it there is only one way: don't keep skelettons in the closet or make them public knowledge on your own terms before others do) If you give them a little while, they will be all too happy to be seen with Mosley again. He will not remain persona non grata for ever. Just as long as he stands in the media focus with this scandal. Next season no one will remember.
Few people think more than two or three times a year; I have made an international reputation for myself by thinking once or twice a week.

More news about the Amber Fashion event and the charity auction (in French). Apparently one of Elton John's piano's is one of the lots that's up for auction. I propose putting up Spongelene too.
