Fog has rolled in this afternoon, thank goodness. We got into the 70's yesterday. I know that's not hot for the rest of you, but for me I was melting. Today it's cool and great sleeping weather for a night worker. Heading off to bed for a nap. You all have a great evening.

Alaska is growing thanks to Global Warming:

Morgan DeBoer, a property owner, opened a nine-hole golf course at the mouth of Glacier Bay in 1998, on land that was underwater when his family first settled here 50 years ago.

“The highest tides of the year would come into what is now my driving range area,” Mr. DeBoer said.

Now, with the high-tide line receding even farther, he is contemplating adding another nine holes.

Oh for a camera this morning. The past few days there have been 5 momma moose giving birth to twins behind my building. It's like a maternity ward for moose. All last night we have had a steady soft rain. The Garden Center put out all of their plants to be watered by the rain. When I drove by this morning all of the momma mooses had brought their babies over to the Garden Center for breakfast.

All plants are Moose Candy. The Garden Center is being run this year by an outsider, who just moved up. I don't think he knew that he ran the risk of losing his stock.

There is a wooded wild vacant lot next to my house. The sea gulls woke me up, apparently there was birth and the birds are telling the world. I have only seen the top of the head of momma moose, she hasn't stood up yet.

Yep, a 5.4, a 4.0 and a 3.3 today with the first one the 5.4 the earth moved for over a minute. I was in the office teaching a class, the building shook pretty good. but it was 97 miles NNW. I just checked the earthquake site, it's been a very active day...well over 2 dozen ranging from 1.50 to 5.6 all within 100 miles of here. Just another day in Alaska.

NEVER!!!!!

What a great summer we are having. Unlike last year that was raining and cold, this year its been in the 60's with wonderful blue sky, afternoon thunderstorms. Since we haven't had the rain we haven't had the mosquitos we usually have. The wildflowers are blooming everywhere, I hate to mow the yard, when I do I've been mowing around the shamrocks, wild roses and lupines. My yard is going wild.

But thank you LouLou for still trying. You have very high standards trying to take over the best place in the world.

Oh hey, have you been watching this year's ICE ROAD TRUCKERS? They're driving the haul road this year...or officially the Dalton Hwy, but no one here calls it that, it's just the haul road. I love the aerial shots of the Atigun Pass.

Sarah Palin just resigned as governer. (in a rambling speech not unlike sanfords last week). i would swear the LT gov standing next to her didn't know what she was going to say, private press conference in wasilla, very few people there.

i never got a true reason, family voted :?: , more effective outside of office :?: , can't stand politics as usual :?: :?: :?: weird free thought stream about basketball and point guards and jabs at her "enemies"

I think she is tried of her and her family being attacked daily by the media from down south. Most of it is very nasty and nothing but lies.

For Alaska. Hopefully it will mean that the state won't be slammed anymore in the media. For her, she will be free to take some of her attackers to court, she will no longer be bound by the trappings of the job. I'm not a fan of the Lt. Gov Parrnell. Hopefully he won't do too much damage to the state.

I read her letter to the state but did not come away with any future plans. She built up everything that was positive from her and the Lt. Gov administration. I came away with her wanting the state and folks like me who do not like Parrnell to think more positive towards him. I detected a lot of hurt and pain and that lead to some rambling in the letter. I hope she and family will be able to heal from this past year. Regardless of how the media down south look at her and Alaska, she was a good governor and she rid the state of a lot of government favoritism and has help the government to be viewed more positive. Prior to her we had a couple of governors and commissionares that lined their pockets with gold and oil stealing from the state.
